The Movie "Blood Diamond" opened this past weekend with a lot of controversy. Countries rich in diamond, in Africa, has turned to be war-zones benefiting those who are in power, and leaving the rest displaced, dehumanized with an uncertain future. Diamonds, illegally mined ( still is) by warlords to finance brutal wars for the past two centuries, in addition, they kidnap the most precious ones(children) and recruit them to be child soldiers. The debate is about two things...so far!
1.The movie will open up the wounds of years of brutal killings to those who have become victims.
2.The 60 billion a year diamond industry, might go down.
But, what about holding responsible those who've caused the pain? isn't that something to discuss about? it might take time, but, someday, somehow, someone needs to keep them honest.

Why does the discussion has to happen "now" when the movie is out? hasn't there been news already! about, not only diamond but also other kinds of germstones and mines from Africa which have been causing a lot of conflicts among ourselves, in our own land!. Those who are involved need to swallow their pride, put their weapons down and think about the future of their children they're building, by doing that. They can have all the power today but what about tomorrow!
It's a shame that all we get out of our rich land is murders, refugees, hunger... etc. When we could have Peace, Prosperity and all the good things in life.
Its sad that Afrika is so rich, yet so poor. Certain Nations fuel this conflict so that they can benefit from trading illegally with the opposing side and supply them with weapons in exchange for the gems. Therefore i'm more than sorry to say that this problem will never end any time soon.
Pole sana Afrika,Im crying for you..
