Samora Avenue / Mtaa wa Samora (Part Two)

Okay, now back to mtaa wa Samora. A few weeks ago I gave you a short history of this Tz's main street, Samora, and where it got its name from.
Both sides of Samora are filled with nice buildings, nice pavements, nice restaurants, plenty of Bureau De Change, Plenty of offices and businesses, lots of expensive stores, lots of tourists, lots of cars and even a few "Machinga."
Its fascinating to walk inside Samora. It feels suddenly like you are in a different world. Everybody looks well dressed, walk a little faster than usual, looks busier than necessary, speak as little swahili as possible, speak more english than needed, act more businesslike than they are, the list can go on...
It all starts at the entrance of Samora, around stesheni, if you're coming from that side. All you do is stop and sit down at a shoe shine place, cool off (Dar is about 90 degrees always), get your shoes shined, try to refresh a bit, take a deep breath, GO...

Follow up....I have a dream!....

Should we believe that this is, may be, Dr. Martin Luther King, fruits of his work? as I said yesterday, if Dr. Martin Luther king was still alive, he would've been witnessing some of his dreams coming true in our times.

Will he or will he not? RUN, he said he is going to announce, sometime in mid febuary. ( I can't wait) Go get'em Obama! but, remember to keep 'em honest!

Oprah's school / shule ya Oprah

Shule ya Oprahs, Oprah's leadership academy for girls has opened officially, in South Africa. Girls are so excited about it and so is Oprah herself. Oprah spent $40 million of HER money, (may I repeat, HER MONEY) to build this school. She promised Mzee Mandela, and she has fullfilled her promise.

The reason I insist the worlds Her Money is that, believe it or not, there are people who are so upset that she chose to spend that much money to Afrikan girls and not here in USA! I was reading cnn's 360blog, by Jeff Koinange, who wrote a really nice article about this school, and as I started reading the comments I came across really negative coments about Oprah. But the good thing there were also people, who were as surprised as I was to see that there are people who could find something ugly out of something this good! Not to mention the fact that its her money and she can use it however she pleases. Not to even mention the fact that Oprah does so much to help people here in the US, through her Angel network thousands have been helped for years, and thousands more will be helped for many years to come.

Now someone help me, how anyone find this kind of heart"so awful", "hypocritical", "attention seeker", or as one blogger, called her,"evil"!

Reminder: Oprah will be interviewed on cnn on mmonday 1/8/07 @10.00pm

Asante Oprah !

Haya, Oprah Winfrey, nakubali apewe Title African Queeeeeennnnn........ She can truly have that title because she really is one. She just opened her 40 million school for girls in South Afrika. This is one woman who is so unselfish, she shares her wealth with total strangers! She's been blessed and she blesses others as well. Who could imagine those girls could wake up one morning to this fairly tale like? Only Oprah can make the Imaginary become real, I'm still confused to just think of it. Is she a normal human being like the rest of us? I can't find words to discuss this, all I can say is "ASANTE SANA DADA OPRAH".
PS.Nimekuta blog fulani huko, jamaa kiroho kinawadunda kwa wivu, eti kwa nini ameenda kusaidia mbali huko Afrika! wivuuuuu, wakitaka wajiDito...
